The spray foam kits we supply will make professional grade spray foam if set up correctly. Most foam problems can easily be remedied, please follow the guide below if you believe your kit is producing poor quality foam.

Reported problems:

* The foam stays liquid

* The foam drips off the surface

* The foam is dark in colour (normal colour very faint yellow/white) and brittle when cured.

* Running out of chemical in one tank whilst the other still has chemical

* Poor expansion of the foam

Do the following before starting to spray

1) Shake the tanks thoroughly

2) Ensure the chemical within the tanks is at the correct temperature

3) Ensure all valves on the tanks are fully on

4) Ensure that the nozzle is not blocked or partially blocked in any way

5) Ensure that the gun does not have a block or partial block

6) Ensure that the hose lines are have no blocks or partial blocks

7) Ensure that all connections are tight (not overtight) and do not leak

1) Temperature - get it right! The kits work best when the chemical within the tanks is between 25° to 30° C or 75° to 85° F. Give the tanks a good shake to ensure even temperature throughout the chemical and a even mixture of chemical. Make sure the tanks are nice and warm to the touch and check with a thermometer to ensure the tanks are within the guide temperature range. More than any other factor, the temperature of the chemical must be within the guidelines above to produce good quality spray foam.

 2) Blockages - check! Even a small piece of cured foam in the nozzle will affect the foam quality as a proper 50:50 mixing of the A and B chemical will not occur causing poor quality foam to be produced. Start with a new nozzle and if you sare going to stop spraying for more than 30 seconds clean the nozzle within the 30 seconds with acetone or snap a new nozzle on after your tea break! Partial blockages must not be allowed even if the foam comes out!

3) Good quality spray foam will be a good cream to off white colour and will cure to a very faint white/yellow colour. If the foam is obviously yellow when spraying or a pure white then the mix is not 50:50. Check that the valves are on equally, check that there are no kinks in the hose line, check that there are blockages, check that both tanks have been shaken and are within the required temperature range.

4) Foam yield poor? Number one suspect is temperature followed by failure to shake the tanks thoroughly! Poor spraying technique will also affect the yield, keep the spray gun moving evenly and at a brisk pace to ensure an even coating of foam, don't try to do more than 25mm depth in one coat and allow for the expansion behaviour of the foam.
